*Some of these recipes contain essential oils. We have provided links to Mountain Rose Herbs for essential oils and for other exotic ingredients you may encounter in each recipe. This is a very reputable company, and they have sustainable practices but feel free to substitute ingredients and/or use any brand you like! If you have allergies to any of the ingredients, we suggest you substitute it with a safe one, or skip making it altogether. Some essential oils have precautions. Please be sure to read them BEFORE using them in a recipe.  As with all essential oils, never use them undiluted, in eyes or mucus membranes. Consult your doctor before using if you are pregnant or nursing. Do not take internally unless working with a qualified and expert practitioner. Keep away from children. If applying an essential oil to your skin always perform a small patch test to an insensitive part of the body after you have properly diluted the oil in an appropriate carrier oil. Citrus and Thyme Body Scrub

This fresh and yummy body scrub puts me in a good mood every time!

1 cup organic cane sugar

1/2 cup pure organic almond oil (you can substitute Olive Oil if you like!)

2 drops of organic lemon essential oil

2 drops of organic sweet orange essential oil

2 drops of organic grapefruit essential oil

2 teaspoons fresh organic thyme, leaves stripped from the stems (dried thyme works too…but fresh smells best!)

7oz Pantry Jar or similar glass jar

Pour the sugar into a clean glass bowl and add your essential oils and thyme.

Give a nice stir to combine the fragrances and herbs

Pour the almond oil over top and stir again to coat all ingredients. Add your scrub to the pantry jar and voila!

To use, just give the jar a stir to mix ingredients together (if it’s been sitting for a while, the oil may have naturally separated) and scrub away in the shower

Sweet Almond & Brown Sugar Body Scrub

This scrub is AMAZING for your entire body, but I live for using it as a quick way to soften my hands! I wet my hands, scoop about a quarter-sized amount into my palms and rub my hands together for about a minute. I give extra love to my cuticles and the skin around my nails! Then I rinse it off with warm water and BAM!! Suddenly I’m a hand model!

1/4 cup organic almond meal

1/2 cup organic brown sugar (light or dark, either one works!)

2 tablespoons local organic honey

3 tablespoons organic sweet almond oil (you can substitute extra virgin olive oil if you like!)

7oz. Pantry jar  or similar glass jar

Combine all ingredients in a glass bowl and stir until thoroughly mixed.

Transfer scrub to pantry jar

Place the lid on the jar and store in the fridge for up to a month.

When you’re ready to use the scrub, just remove it from the fridge and allow to sit at room temperature for about 20 minutes. Then, stir the contents of the jar together again, since they will have naturally separated.

Use once a week to exfoliate your face and body, and up to twice a week as a skin-sloughing hand scrub! It’s like a manicure in a jar!

Wake Me up Coffee Body Scrub

This one is INCREDIBLE for those mornings where you need a boost to get going! Now you have a great use for those coffee grounds! Instead of throwing them out, recycle them in this wonderful way!

1/2 cup Organic Virgin Coconut oil

½ cup Organic brown sugar (light or dark)

1 tablespoon local organic honey

1/3 cup fresh coffee grounds

3 tablespoons olive oil

7oz. Pantry jar or similar glass jar

In a glass bowl, combine sugar and coffee grounds.  Add the honey and stir, until the sugar and coffee are coated. Add the olive oil & coconut oil and mix well. Add the scrub to your 7 oz. pantry jars. Store in the jar at room temperature. Use in the shower all over to have a great morning!!

Sweet Kisses Lip Scrub

This sweet scrub is for your lips. You can make a lot, or a little. Great for a single use to combat dry lips or you can add to it your daily skin regimen! Your lips will be ready to smooch anytime!

1 tablespoon Organic cane sugar

1 tablespoon Organic jojoba oil

1 teaspoon Organic local honey

1 teaspoon organic lemon juice

1 oz. tin

Combine all ingredients in a glass bowl and mix until smooth. Add the ingredients to the tin and use whenever your lips need extra TLC. For best results, rub gently on your lips in a circular motion with your fingers for a few seconds, then rinse your lips with warm water and pat dry. Add your favorite lip balm to lock in the moisture!

Unwind Me Body scrub

This scrub is soooo amazingly soothing after a long day. The essential oil lavender and ylang ylang are famous for their calming qualities. Do this one just before bed to relax from stress and sooth your way into a restful sleep.

½ cup Organic refined Shea butter

1/3 cup Organic Safflower oil

1/8 teaspoon Vitamin E oil

4 drops Organic Lavender essential oil

4 drops Organic Ylang Ylang essential oil

1 cup Organic Cane Sugar

Pantry Jar or similar glass jar

Place the Shea butter in a mixing bowl and begin to beat with a stand mixer or electric hand mixer until the butter is creamy. Have patience…it may take a while for the friction of the beaters to soften the butter.

If the butter is too hard, soften slightly in the microwave for about 15 seconds but do not melt.

Gradually add the safflower oil a small amount at a time and blend completely between additions. This is important or you will get lumpy butter. Once the butter mixture is smooth, add the Vitamin E oil.

Blend well once more, then add your essential oils.

Slowly start to mix in the sugar a little at a time until you achieve your desired texture.

Spoon into your jar. Use gently in the shower whenever you need to relax!!
